Twice Blessed
September/October 2008 Issue | Posted by Robyn Lee in Party Planners
Occasion: A “double baptism” for two of our children’s babies — girls born one week apart: Adelaide Louise Flavin and Camille Barry Thompson.
Party Planner: Cathy Thompson
Place: Our home in Louisiana
Guests: “All four grandparents for each baby were present, along with three great-grandmothers and two great-grandfathers. Our 11 children were in town, plus two of their spouses, and our four grandchildren. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins — and plenty of life-long friends.”
Events: “After Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Msgr. Harry Greig baptized both girls (as he has six of our 11 children). We took advantage of being together and took lots of family pictures!”
Food: A family favorite: Shrimp Sauce Pasta and Caesar Salad.
Cake: Carrot Cake decorated in honor of the two girls.
Drinks: Champagne to celebrate the exciting event.
Party Helpers: “I had plenty of helpers because I couldn’t have pulled off this party successfully by myself without going crazy. My daughters and mom were a big help in cleaning the house and preparing the food, especially Anna (23), who made and decorated the cake so beautifully. Addie’s grandparents brought sandwiches, and our neighbors, the Forets, brought more desserts!”
Photographers: “Our special occasion was well documented — we had lots of photographers — good friend Sally Foret sent us copies of all her pictures and my two youngest daughters, Maggie (13) and Frances (11), constantly had cameras in their hands. I can’t think of a better reason for gathering and celebrating than to welcome two more souls into God’s family and thank him for blessing us.
