Benedict's Vigil For Life

As Lynn noted last week, the Holy Father kicked off Advent by leading an international prayer vigil for life.

This poster from an ad campaign in the UK seemed like the perfect illustration to accompany the Pope’s homily.

At a Vespers service, Pope Benedict beautifully linked the preciousness of life to the reality of the Incarnation.

He becomes a child. It speaks to us of the coming of a God who is... READ MORE

If You Can't Be Hip, Be Funny

from "grocery getter" to "swagger wagon"

This is everywhere, but I find I can’t help myself.

A Kid With Vision

an ad worth watching

I think this might be the most pro-life ad I’ve ever seen—and it’s advertising a snack.

Doesn’t that remind you of John Paul the Great’s remark that among the goods parents strive to give their kids, the greatest is siblings?

With a polite nod to First Thoughts

Super Bowl Ads

How did they rank?

It was the Tim Tebow ad that got most of the pre-game attention, but I’m curious to see how you felt about the rest of the ads, now that the big game is over.

To me, they seemed a little more tame (by comparison). Not nearly as many ads featured scantily-clad women, and only one ad really seemed to try and push the limits in that regard. In fact, most of the commercials that featured any kind of “skin”... READ MORE

"Man"ifesto

Says You: can khaki pants resurrect chivalry?

Have you seen the new “wear the pants” ad from Dockers?

A girlfriend gives the ad a big thumbs up.

She posted this, with a link to the ad in question, to her Facebook page:

Last month, in a rare outing without the kids, but still visibly pregnant, I was on a full airport shuttle between the gates and baggage claim. Women, including myself, and elderly folks were standing, some moms were sitting... READ MORE

Roe v. Roe

"Jane Roe" makes a pro-life statement

Norma McCorvey, the “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade, just recorded a powerful pro-life ad.

See it here.

It’s made by Virtue Media, the group we talked about last month whose pro-life advertising is having such a profound effect wherever it airs.

In a press release, Virtue Media reports the ad is getting an overwhelmingly positive response wherever it’s being shown—although it’s drawing some negative emails as well. What do you think?

For Goodness’ Sake

taking on aggressive secularism

The ad at left is running in and on the buses of my hometown, Washington, D.C.

The American Humanist Association is spending $40,000 on a “good, not god” campaign for Christmas.

JoEllen Murphy, however, is not one to read such stories and tsk-tsk the state of things. Instead, she called the local transit authority and found out what it would cost to run a counter ad campaign. She found that with... READ MORE

Is Your Car Ready For Winter?

Canadian Car Chase

If you didn’t like that Motrin ad, what do you think of this one? It’s running in Canada.
