American Idol fans already know that Maddy Curtis, daughter of Catholic mom blogger Barbara Curtis, was cut from the show last week.
I was disappointed, but it didn’t take long to realize that God has bigger plans for the sweet and talented Maddy. The 16 year old sold out two Haitian relief concerts last week.

I’m not an American Idol fan (not my kind of singing), but enjoyed this uplifting clip about new contestant Maddy Curtis.
The guys at Creative Minority Report report that Maddy’s entire family converted to Catholicism a few years ago. She’s the 9th of 12 children, and her mom is pro-life activist Barbara Curtis:
“The wonderful part is that during her audition for Idol, producers highlighted the Down Syndrome children in her family and they quoted Maddy saying “I think some people are a little skeptical of Down syndrome. Those four boys bring out the best in every person they meet. They see the world in colors, and we need to see the world that way.”

Two nights ago, my two oldest girls and I met with friends to attend the very last show of the American Idol 2009 Summer Tour.

And now for something totally frivolous…
I am curious to know how many of us will be tuned in tonight, watching the final sing off on American Idol - a smackdown between glam rocker Adam Lambert and Christian worship leader Kris Allen. I don’t really have a horse in this race, since my favorite—Danny Gokey—was eliminated from the competition last week.
