Prayers for Papa Benedict

on his 60th anniversary

I saw these prayers on ibreviary, which said “the following indulgenced prayer may be said in thanksgiving for the 60th anniversary of the priesthood of our Holy Father.”

Families could work this in with grace before dinner tonight, or with daily family prayers:

Let us pray for Pope Benedict: May the Lord preserve him, give him life, make him blessed upon earth; and not deliver him up to the will of his enemies.

Let us Pray

Father of providence, look with love on Benedict our Pope, your appointed successor to St. Peter on whom you built your Church.  May he be the visible center and foundation of our unity in faith and love. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns wit you and the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever. Amen.

Benedict To Fatima

what will the "intense message" be?

The Pope will visit Portugal next week.

The “heart” of the trip will be a May 13th visit to Fatima.

Vatican press secretary Fr. Federico Lombardi has ignited a mini-storm of curiosity by saying the Pope will deliver an “intense message” at Fatima.

I’ve run across some blogs speculating about matters that are beyond my ken, not being a Fatima expert.

However, if I had to wager I’d predict the Holy... READ MORE

Wedded Bliss

all these years later

Paul and I are celebrating fifteen years of marriage today. Our wedding day seems forever ago, and yet not really.

We managed a quick lunch today at our favorite mexican place and Paul remarked that it mostly just feels like a blip. It’s hard to believe this much time has gone by. We sat there grateful for all God has done for us, for the ways we have been blessed throughout these years together.... READ MORE

Fly Me to the Moon

with Google Earth

In honor of the 40th anniversary of man walking on the moon, Google Earth offers a new feature that allows you to observe the moon’s terrain—as well as see the evidence of man’s visit there. This will make a nice little summer-homeschool study for today, I think.

The Joys of Impractical Shoes

How I know he loves me

On our anniversary yesterday, Dan took me out shopping. He “owed” me some birthday presents from last month (he did not), he said and figured we might as well pick some things out together.

I guess I thrill easily, because my man’s voluntary company on a shopping excursion made me giddy.

And when I picked out these totally impractical shoes, ones I am quite sure will be the cause of my demise when I turn over my ankle in them a thousand different times a thousand different ways, and he said only, “Sure, if you like them,” I knew he loved me.

No wonder I married this man!
