My Digital Resolutions for 2012

Have you thought about technology related resolutions?

Happy New Year to all of our readers – I sincerely hope that your holiday celebrations were filled with peace and joy. These first few days of 2012 find me returning to my desk and computer after a nice long break over the Christmas holiday to savor time with family and friends.

The excitement and busyness of the past few years, with the growth of my work on the Internet, my speaking engagements... READ MORE

Who Cares for Caregivers?

seeking resources for support

A reader writes:

“I am writing you to ask about any Catholic bloggers out there who address caregiving of others. My mother is the sole caretaker of my father who is in the moderate/severe stage of Alzheimers where he can still speak, but he cannot
finish a sentence on the phone.  He does not remember and he has whole libraries of books that he has forgotten.

My mother is a devout Catholic and would... READ MORE

An Update on Arwen

Thanks to everyone who has been remembering Arwen and her unborn twin boys in prayer this week.

The good news is that those baby boys are still on the “inside” and doing very well. Arwen has been allowed to go home but is on strict bed rest. We won’t be hearing much from her here, but she is very good about updating her Twitter account, so you can get the latest news from her there.

While Arwen is focused on baby business, the lovely Daria Sockey of Coffee and Canticles fame has graciously agreed to do some blogging here with us.

God be with you, Arwen! And welcome, Daria!

Liturgy of the Hours for Lent

Why not try something new?

Looking for a new devotion for Lent? Why not give the Divine Office a try? Long associated with clergy and religious, every Pope since Paul VI has urged the laity to ignore that stereotype and join in the Church’s Universal Prayer.

What exactly is the Divine Office? It’s a repeating cycle of psalms, scripture readings, and other prayers that follows the liturgical year. It is also called the Liturgy... READ MORE

Welcome Guest Blogger Daria Sockey

F&F senior writer will focus on Divine Liturgy

I’m happy to announce that Faith & Family senior writer Daria Sockey will be joining us here at Faith & Family Live for the coming week. After years of enjoying Daria’s contributions in our features section and in Faith & Family magazine, I was thrilled to learn that Daria was launching a blog of her own—Coffee and Canticles, where she shares her love for the Liturgy of the Hours.

Daria will be doing some Liturgy of the Hours blogging here as well. I just know you are going to be blessed by what this veteran Catholic mom and writer has to share. Welcome, Daria! We’re so glad you’re here!

Christmas Generosity

a heartwarming story

I love stories that remind me how kind and generous people can be.

I read a good one this morning, and hours later I’m still tearing up a little when I think of it.

A blogger made the generous gesture of offering $30 Amazon gift cards to the first twenty commenters who could tell her why they needed them. The cards went quickly, but in poured offers from readers to help provide gift cards for the... READ MORE

A Week of Rosary Blogging

In which I get to "play" at Faith & Family Live

Hi everyone! It’s an honor and a delight to be guest blogging this week at one of my favorite places on the internet.

A month or so ago, I asked Danielle if I could spend a week doing some rosary blogging here during October, which is the Month of the Rosary (because, you know, y’all don’t hear enough about my devotion to Mary), and she said yes!

A little about me, before I tell you my plan for the... READ MORE

Special Guest Blogger: Catholic Foodie

Food meets faith this week at Faith & Family

I am so happy to announce our Faith & Family Live guest blogger for the week—Jeff Young, the Catholic Foodie!

I first met Jeff at a conference a little over a year ago and he quickly won me over with his enthusiasm for family, food, and faith. If you aren’t familiar with his work, spend a little time perusing CatholicFoodie.com and you’ll soon see why we’re lucky to have him blogging here with us this week. Jeff’s blogging, podcasting, and recipes are all served up with southern charm and a healthy dose of faith and fun.

Please join me in welcoming Jeff. And ladies, behave yourselves. We do have a man in the house and he’s an excellent cook, but he’s a happily married man. grin

Welcome, Jeff! We’re so glad you’re here!

Have You Seen the New Inside Catholic?

Change is Good

Cool! Did you see that Inside Catholic got a makeover (and it’s ongoing)?

They’re doing lots of to make the site more interactive and there are upcoming plans for making its content more accessible from mobile devices. Inside Catholic is one of my favorite news and reading spots online, so I am happy to see them making these changes for the better.

Why don’t you head on over and check them out for yourself?
