Go Ahead And Say It

http://www.flickr.com/photos/wwworks/

Uncle Jerry passed away last week.

He was not my uncle, but that of a dear friend.

My friend and I have known each other since 6th grade, and after years of drama practices, sleepovers, high school, college and even volunteer work together, we know each other’s extended family as if it were our own.

One of our first road trips without chaperones was to visit Uncle Jerry and Aunt Do. I’ve forgotten... READ MORE

Christmas Card Mania

Let's get ready to rumble!

This is my favorite Balducci Christmas card photo ever. It’s from a few years ago, and it perfectly encapsulates life in our home during that season.

In the years since, we’ve had some nice photos—along with one tremendous dud that involved me feeling desperate for a decent photo and using the one from the parish directory (complete with blue shag carpet across my lap as I held baby Henry).

The last... READ MORE

Better Than a Necktie

What are your plans for Father's Day?

In working out the details for our Father’s Day celebration this year, I have been having fun perusing craft ideas for kids.

There are tons at Family Fun, of course. My favorite is the Duct Tape wallet.

We made this craft a few years ago, so I can tell you it actually works. Using only duct tape (and what Dad doesn’t love duct tape?) you can make a nifty little wallet. You can then fill it with photos,... READ MORE

Sharing the Day With Hoops and Yo Yo

a Mother's Day tradition

It just wouldn’t be Mother’s Day if I didn’t link to my all-time favorite e-card from Hoops & Yoyo:

What We Say, What Mom Hears

Click a flower on the left to hear what kids think they say. Click the flower on the right to hear what moms actually hear.

Then laugh at the reality of it all. And have a Happy Mother’s Day.

Send Christmas Greetings to the Pope

Papal Christmas goes high tech

You might think you got all your Christmas cards written up and sent out, but maybe you left Pope Benedict XVI off your list?

It’s not too late to send the pope your personal greeting for Christmas!

At Pope2You.net, sending a Christmas message to the pope or sending a message to a friend with pope’s greeting takes only a click of your mouse. You can use Flickr to share photos or Facebook to send inspired greetings to all your friends.

What, no twitter?
