Sock-foot or Barefoot?

What's your preference?

In summer, I eschew socks.

Occasionally my exercise footwear requires socks, but when the activity ends I immediately sit and rip them off, and my feet and I are both relieved and happy for the resultant breath of fresh air. Other than when exercising, I am completely sock-free during the warmer months.

I mentioned to my husband that I’ve gone at least a week at a time without wearing socks. He looked... READ MORE

Nursing Wear To Fit Your Needs, Style and Budget

Fashion Friday!

Am I the only one who is less-than-satisfied with the current selection of nursing-wear fashions available? Don’t get me wrong; I do occasionally stumble upon a piece or two that are pretty cute but, all in all, the options out there leave a little something to be desired, don’t you think?

Maybe I’m crazy, not looking hard enough, or not looking in the right places, but from what I can tell most... READ MORE

Keep It On!

How have you dealt with diaper-removing babies?

Blaise toddled past me, as he often does, and I noticed him out of the corner of my eye.

It took a few seconds… and then my head whipped around. Because the kid was not wearing a diaper.

We are not particularly uptight about cleanliness in our household, but we have to draw the line somewhere, and in the past we have always drawn it in a place that results in our non-potty-trained children wearing... READ MORE

Juicy Bites From Shabby Apple

and a giveaway too!

Oh my goodness! Just when I thought I couldn’t love Shabby Apple any more they’ve gone and proved me wrong once again. They’ve designed a line of aprons! Oh, yes they have! (You remember what a sucker I am for aprons, don’t you?)

Not only have they created some of the cutest aprons my eyes have ever beheld, but they named their line Boysenberry Pie! How adorable is that? They’ve assured us that their... READ MORE

Pretty & Comfy Without the Peekaboo

Cropped Camisoles to the Rescue!

Girls, please (oh, please) tell me I am not the only one who has flashed perfect strangers while tending to my baby. I ask you: Is there anything more mortifying?

You try to be a good Catholic girl, you watch those necklines and hemlines, but then the baby goes and tugs a little too exuberantly at your top and poof!, in the blink of an eye, there you are waving goodbye to your dignity.

If you’re lucky... READ MORE

Sleepwear Options for Nursing Moms

Fashion Friday!

Hey ladies,

I’m hoping you can help me out today. I need to buy new nursing pajamas before the wee one arrives in September. There are so many lovely options available but I’ve found it can be hard to choose nursing pajamas from a picture alone (and unfortunately, there aren’t many options available in the stores in my area).

Here is what I’m hoping to find:

—pajamas that are modest enough to be... READ MORE

Find a Fit That Flatters

Nordstroms videos show you how

I imagine we’ve all faced the challenge at some point of finding clothes that successfully meet the needs of both our unique senses of style as well as our personal standards of modesty. Department stores have long been chock full of barely-there pieces while magazines try to convince us that confident women aren’t afraid to show a whole lot of skin.

Despite these attempts by the powers-that-be,... READ MORE

Getting the Size Right

Whether big or small, no one size does fit all

I was recently admiring all the pretty new summer clothes on display at my favorite modest boutiques and had to sigh because so many of my most coveted frocks and blouses simply wouldn’t be modest on my figure.

I really can’t wear thin materials or anything that comes close to being low-cut, and forget about button-ups! It occurred to me that many of you probably face a similar dilemma.

How many... READ MORE

40 Bags Hits a Snag

Here we go with a bit more “moblogging” for you ... Danielle style.

Today I’m checking in from my local clothing donation spot where my 40 bags  have been turned away for lack of space. And St. Vincent dePaul is closed.

Please don’t leave bags on the ground, the receptacle tells me. So what to do? Stuff them back into the rear of my van, I suppose, until I find a proper place for my way too many jackets, sweatshirts, and jeans.

How’s de-cluttering going for you these final days of Lent?
