Fighting Digital Entropy

My hard drive almost died last month.
Once I found out the data was safe, I was actually relieved.
My laptop is sporting a brand-new (free! thanks, Apple) hard-drive now, and the old one is stored away, waiting for us to get the data off it at some future point. I’m planning to enlist the help of my geek-proficient brother when he’s home for the holidays.

That Useless Old Internet

I was amused recently to read a 1995 Newsweek column by Clifford Stoll, in which he predicts the demise of that useless old internet thing.

Can You Beat That?

The “delete” key on my computer has gone wonky. It still works most of the time, but occasionally I’ll hit it and have no luck. Good thing I know the key command for “cut” so I can still erase unwanted text!
