In Arwen’s compelling and well-written post below, F&F blogger Rebecca Teti makes a point in the comments that was a lightbulb moment for me.
“Since no candidate ever perfectly fulfills anyone’s slate of issues, everyone is a single-issue voter: by which we mean that some one issue is a deal-sealer or deal-breaker,” she writes, and goes on to note that the issue is really about having “the culture of life be the #1 priority.”
I have never clearly realized the issue as such and have often been reluctant to identify myself as a single-issue voter. There are so many important issues to consider in an election.
Having said that, when it all comes down to it, life trumps everything—life is the priority. It is the Number One Priority, and even if I am learned on a great many other topics, this one will always be at the heart of who gets my vote.
