Strength Training?
Posted by Danielle Bean in Health on Monday, February 09, 2009
With each passing decade, the average woman loses 5 pounds of muscle, and gains 15 pounds of fat.
Don’t like those numbers? You shouldn’t. They add up to a very bad health report—with weakened bones and an increased risk of heart disease at the top of the list.
The good news is that you can take steps toward countering this trend right now—no matter what size you are, no matter how old you are, and... READ MORE
Weighing In
Posted by Rachel Balducci in Health on Wednesday, January 07, 2009
I sat down to write something about Danielle’s previous post, and found she had already clarified a few points. But I’ve been thinking a lot about what she wrote, so I’d like to mention a few thoughts.
The thing I’ve been thinking about, as I read that post and further discussions at other blogs, is that I think we are talking about two different things here. There are those people (mostly women)... READ MORE
Weighty Matters
Posted by Danielle Bean in Health on Wednesday, January 07, 2009
It would appear that I struck a nerve with some of my fellow mom bloggers with my recent post about what I hate about diets.
I must admit, I am feeling a bit misunderstood here. It makes me very sad to think that anyone who struggles with weight loss felt judged by what I wrote.

Finding Time for Fitness
Posted by Danielle Bean in Health on Thursday, August 21, 2008
I recently came across this helpful article about how busy parents can find time for exercise and fitness.
One of my favorite bits of advice was this one:
Make date night start with fitness together. Hit the treadmill, go for a long walk or jog, play tennis, go on a bike ride: Do something you can do with your partner that builds in time together with exercise for you both.
Why shouldn’t playing a... READ MORE
Wake Up!

I really enjoyed this article recently: 50 Ways to Boost Your Energy Without Caffeine
Some of the entries were things I’ve read dozens of times before, but some were actually surprising. Did you know, for example, that being a pessimist might be sapping you of your energy?
Don’t focus on the negative. Being a pessimist may actually be making you more tired. Try looking on the positive side of things... READ MORE
