A couple of years ago, my older kids got the idea that they would like to do a “bread and water” fast on Ash Wednesday.
I surely didn’t want to be an obstacle on their path to what are obviously great heights of holiness, but I did want to be sure they were still getting necessary nutrition, even on a fasting day. So that year, I baked up a couple loaves of whole wheat bread, and a tradition was born.... READ MORE
Discerning Our Fasts

With one day left until the beginning of Lent, I am still contemplating my devotions for this year. Typically, I try to focus on all three aspects of Lent—Fasting, Prayer, and Almsgiving—with my selected devotions.
