Why I Love My P90X Workouts

Bring It!

Hallie sent me a tweet yesterday afternoon asking my opinion of the P90X Extreme Home Fitness Workout Program.

Turns out this was precisely the motivation I needed for finally getting around to writing up that review I’ve been promising all of you for so long. So here goes ...

Dan ordered the P90X program last October. When the 12-DVD set arrived, he rather sheepishly suggested that I might be interested... READ MORE

Are You a Group Fitness Fan?

Finding motivation to exercise

If you noticed, many of us are writing about the snow and being stuck indoors. I have a normal tendency to hibernate in the winter, but this weather is even affecting my usual exercise routine.

I regularly wake up at 5:23 a.m. to get ready for the 6 a.m. group fitness class. I take a spinning class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and a resistance weight-training class on Tuesday and Thursday.

Lately,... READ MORE

Fitness Fans and Mamas Movin'

winner of our recent giveaway

The randomly drawn winner of our Mamas Movin’ With Mary shirt giveaway is Sharon, who shared this fitness goal:

“I want to get the bike I got for Mother’s Day out of the garage and ride it regularly.  I want to get back on the elliptical I haven’t touched for months.  A friend invited me to start running with a group of friends twice a week; maybe this shirt will help motivate me to get me moving again!  As for prayer, I want to make sure I pray the Rosary EVERY day, even if it means getting up a few minutes earlier in the morning, or turning off the radio when I’m in the car.  Thanks for the cool contest! smile

Thanks to the Mamas for sponsoring this giveaway and congrats to Sharon—we hope the shirt helps you reach your goals!

Mamas Moving With Mary

***UPDATE: Contest is now over and comments are closed. I will post the winner’s name shortly!

Do you ever think it’s too hard for a mom to find regular time for fitness and prayer? Well, here’s an inspiring story of some moms who made fitness and prayer a priority—with great results!

Getting Moving

How to make time for exercise?

This is my current exercise program: nothing.

I don’t live a totally sedentary lifestyle. Keeping up with my kids and running a household means that I get a fair amount of physical activity. Thanks to my 27-lb toddler, I think my biceps are currently stronger than they’ve ever been.

More exercise in my life would be good, though. I know I’m happier when I’m in better shape. I’ve noticed that on days... READ MORE

Hello ladies,

Has spring sprung in your neck of the woods yet? After a winter of record lows the South finally seems to be thawing out. The sun is shining, flowers are blooming and I am itching to get outside to stretch my legs a bit.

Most of my maternity clothes were bought when I was pregnant with my first child and since I am now pregnant with my fifth child most of them are sorely in need of... READ MORE

It’s Monday morning. Do you have a plan for exercising today?

But especially during these dark, cold days of winter, I find that I need the mood boost that comes with exercise. Today, I thought we could share some ideas to keep ourselves motivated toward fitness. Here are some of mine:

1. Find... READ MORE
