An Unfortunate Incident

Thanks for your prayers for all of us testifying before the Maryland House of Delegates in defense of marriage yesterday.
It went fine, but it was an all-day ordeal, and I’m still too drained to write about it.
Politics ain’t beanbag, as they say.
How about something funny instead? Like my friend Angela’s poetic stylings about… an unfortunate incident.

Much Ado About the Flu
Posted by Danielle Bean in Health on Wednesday, October 20, 2010
Last year, in the midst of the swine flu frenzy we talked about flu shots and faith.
This year, though there seems to be less of a general panic about getting everyone vaccinated against this year’s flu virus, the shots are still on my mind. I was happy to get myself and all of the kids vaccinated at a local drug store last week.
According to Flu.gov, this year’s flu vaccine “protects against an... READ MORE

Doesn’t that sound like a fun week?
Being a mother has drastically... READ MORE
Fear, Faith, and Flu Shots

Last week, when I updated my facebook status with a simple “Flu shot today, I hope” I was a bit surprised to be deluged with people telling me not to get one.
I shouldn’t have been.
I know how many people feel about vaccines and I know many of the stories that circulate this time of year. You can find someone to tell you pretty much any bad thing about the flu shot—from it actually making you more... READ MORE
Keeping Kids from Exposure

My sister called me this morning to let me know that her nine-month-old has a fever.
My policy in relation to the children of other families is that if one of their kids is sick or one of our kids is, we just skip the get-together. It’s simpler that way.
But my sister and I decided a long time ago that it wasn’t worth it to try to keep our kids apart when they’re sick. Daniel and Camilla love each... READ MORE
