What would Moses Google?

I thought this was too cute not to share. Modern Moses!

Internet School of Medicine

Why self-diagnosis is a bad idea

Here are a few things I recommend you avoid, things I’ve learned the hard way and I’d love for you to side-step the pain.

1. Never try on your skinny jeans six weeks after giving birth. You feel skinny? That’s great! Back away from the jeans. This will not end well.
2. Never evaluate your life, your mothering skills, the state of your home, finances or marriage when you are having hormonal shifts.... READ MORE

Google Crop Doodles

This odd Google doodle showed up today.

Since no one’s aware of any feast day or holiday it’s commemorating, the UK Guardian presumes it’s part of a viral marketing campaign.

Whatever.

It reminded me to highlight our former editor Tom Hoopes’ look at how Google decides which occasions merit a doodle.

Check out Holidays by Google.

According to the site, it uses “aggregated Google search data to estimate flu activity in your state up to two weeks faster than traditional systems.”

Definitely worth... READ MORE

Blast from the Past

Cool!

In honor of their tenth birthday, Google is offering a peek at what the search engine was like back in 2001.

The World Wide Web and the world have both changed a lot since 2001 ... If you searched on “Michael Phelps” in 2001 for instance, you were probably looking for the scientist, not the swimmer, “ipod” didn’t refer to a music player, and “youtube” didn’t refer to much of anything.

Check it out.
