A Good Habit

How does your family pray for the dead?

On the last day of a theology class I took in college, the professor walked into the room, looked at us seriously, and picked up a piece of chalk. He said, “If you remember only one thing from this course, I want it to be this.”

And then he wrote across the board in big capital letters: “PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF THE DEAD.”

The class, incidentally, was Theology of John Paul II, so this point wasn’t even... READ MORE

Dress up the Fruit?

Share your opinion!

Make fruit pretty.

That’s what a group of Dutch researchers says we need to do to get children to eat it, after a recent study. They offered two plates of fruit, one with a more visually appealing presentation, and found that children ate an average of twice as much fruit from the prettier plate. Thus, their conclusion: dress fruit up, and kids will eat it.

Until we had kids, that... READ MORE

Ball and Chain

Are you a chronic checker?

Via Jen, I recently came across a list of surprising energy drains and Energy Zapper Number 1 is: being addicted to email!

I go in and out of having email addiction. My phone now sends and receives email which is actually nice because I no longer have that urge to check the computer the minute I walk in the door. It used to be I would rush back to the screen to make sure I wasn’t missing out on anything... READ MORE

Mom Goes Dental

Do you suffer maternal dental guilt?

Lisa already talked got us talking about how much we dread going to the dentist ourselves.

Now can we talk about how much we dread taking our kids to the dentist? And how silly that is after all?

We had appointments this morning. I was so proud of myself for making these long-put-off appointments a couple of months ago that I added the accomplishment to my “Small Successes” for that week. Now actually... READ MORE
