Both my kids have gotten their first-ever haircuts in the past month. And I did them!
Blaise is sixteen months and his hair had never been trimmed. I was loath to take that step, since it seemed to symbolize the end of his babyhood. But he was starting to get a mullet. The hair growing off the back of his head was looking ridiculous.

My sisters put my son’s hair in ponytails.
See the picture? That’s the back of my baby boy’s head, with one pink and one coral colored elastic anchored firmly in his locks. Oddly, he didn’t seem to mind the humiliation, and I thought it was kind of cute.

I think I almost can, but alas ... he is no more.

You see this messy little fellow here? The one with jelly stains on his t-shirt and an impish grin on his face?
He totally needs a haircut.
