Posted by Lisa Hendey in News on Thursday, March 04, 2010
On this week’s episode of the podcast (click here to listen or click on the player above) I’m joined by Elizabeth Foss and Sarah Reinhard to take on two great topics. We hear from listener Lauren who shares a question about spring cleaning and deep cleaning when you have little ones at home. Do you have any practical tips or favorite product suggestions to share?

She Quit Her Job to Get a Life
Posted by Danielle Bean in News on Monday, November 16, 2009
In a thought-provoking article, Gaby Hinsliff, former political editor of the Observer in the UK, recently admitted something astonishing:
The successful career woman and mother of one small son only appeared to have it all, she explained. Her life was out of balance. And she planned to fix it the only way she knew how—by quitting her job to stay home with her son.
In the sleepless blur of the last... READ MORE

Home-Preserved Goods

We visited my brother-in-law’s family in Idaho a few years ago, and my husband and I were enchanted by the rows and rows of home-canned fruits and vegetables in our hostess’s pantry. We immediately agreed that this was something we wanted for ourselves. Home-canned produce! How beautiful! How delicious! How handy for the long Michigan winters!
Since then, every spring we’ve talked about how this... READ MORE
Refriganization

We have three identical, opened bottles of barbeque sauce in our refrigerator.
This is not necessarily wasteful. Barbeque sauce has a long shelf life and it will all get used eventually. But it is a less-than-optimal use of space in our crowded refrigerator.
I discovered the sauce tonight when I was putting away the groceries from a large trip to the store. In order to make room for them, I had... READ MORE

Mary of My Home
Posted by Sarah Reinhard in Faith on Saturday, May 30, 2009
I imagine my soul as a house that Mary makes into a home for her Son. It’s drafty and dirty and in need of a fresh coat of paint. Sometimes there’s a recurring sin that gnaws away like termites, slow and steady, almost invisible. Sometimes there’s a dilemma that requires a huge investment of money and lots of time to repair. Sometimes there’s a strange smell that means something died under the... READ MORE
Little Days
Posted by Arwen Mosher in Just me on Tuesday, May 12, 2009
Today I got very little accomplished. Today, I am okay with that.
I have an ongoing mental list of things to get done around the house. On any given day, I’ve got a rough idea of the tasks that need to be accomplished that day, and I feel good if I’ve checked them all off by evening.
Since the master list of tasks is endless (I’m sure anyone out there who’s ever been in charge of running a household... READ MORE
