Last night was one of those looooong nights, filled with thinking and waiting and timing my aches and pains. I had lots of contractions—until I got up to do some laundry (so the boys would have uniforms while I was at the hospital). That’s when everything stopped.

Prayers Please for Henry ... and His Mom

Rachel called me from the hospitable a short while ago to let me know that 22-month-old Henry fell while at a Mother’s Day picnic and broke his femur.
He’ll be having surgery in the morning and getting what sounds like a super-restrictive cast put on. He’ll spend the next few days in the hospital.
Please pray for this active little guy’s speedy recovery and for his mother’s peace of mind.

Once upon a time, every birth was a “home birth.” Just nobody thought to call it that.
Today, though, it’s not just the crunchy moms who choose to give birth at home. In some circles, giving birth at home is even considered trendy, feminist, and counter-culturally cool.
