Better Than Ice Cream

Deliciousness, from your freezer

This pretty little pint caught my eye in the supermarket freezer the other day.

It’s not ice cream, it’s gelato. I’ve never been to Italy, but with this available in my freezer, I’m thinking why bother?

Just kidding. But this stuff is delicious. It’s a little bit pricey (I paid $4.99 per pint), but I am now the proud owner of a pint each of Double Dark Chocolate and Caribbean Coconut that are reserved FOR GROWN-UPS ONLY in my freezer. One small scoop of each is a perfect pairing that makes me happier than a whole bowlful of that stuff the kids love ever could.

How about you? What’s your favorite warm weather treat so far this summer?

How to Make Ice Cream in a Plastic Bag

and how not to

So I found this cool link the other day, which told me how to make ice cream with a few simple ingredients and a couple of plastic bags.

I was enchanted. Cream, sugar, ice, plastic bags, and a little shaking ... What could be easier?

Oh, I don’t know, perhaps wrestling wild boars might be easier. By a long shot. I had no idea what I was in for.

You see that glowing candle in the foreground of this... READ MORE

Scoop Of The Day

...everyone into the van...

It’s Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s.

Free ice cream from noon to 8 pm at participating stores.

Follow the link to find a shop near you.

Update: In comments, a reader calls attention to the fact that Ben & Jerry’s has been a vocal corporate advocate for homosexual rights and, allegedly, Planned Parenthood. Another reader writes in to the effect: all the more reason to accept their product for free... READ MORE

Like We Need An Excuse

the ice cream-fertility link
http://www.flickr.com/photos/bluebunnyicecream/

A new study links the eating of high-fat dairy foods to relief from one form of infertility.

That I knew.

What’s new to me is this: “low-fat dairy foods were associated with a higher risk of infertility.”

I’m actually skeptical of all such studies. But if you needed an ice-cream ennabler today, I’m your gal.
