Praying for Veterans

Share your names and join in

I highly recommend reading the essay that Rebecca linked to in honor of Veterans’ Day. I found it inspiring and thought-provoking.

In the meantime, in honor of this day, I thought it would be nice to publicly acknowledge the veterans in our lives, both living and dead. What better way to honor veterans than by praying for them?

In the comments section of this post, please list any loved ones who’ve served in the armed forces. If you have loved ones in active duty, feel free to share their names as well. It’ll be our special Faith & Family Veterans’ Day Prayer List.

I’ll begin with my own list in the comments.

Reminder: Start Praying Today

For this year's impossible request novena

Last year, my husband and I prayed the Novena for Impossible Requests, which is a nine-month novena that starts on the Feast of the Annunciation and ends on Christmas Day.

We chose three intentions that are both very tough and very close to our hearts. While none of the intentions has been answered yet, the act of praying the novena blessed our lives tremendously. Because of that, we’re planning to pray it again this year for the same intentions. Our idea is to keep praying it every year until our prayers are answered!

If you’re interested, here is a link to the Novena for Impossible Requests.

(And if you’re reading this on March 26, I think it’s okay to start a day late, and just pray it twice today.)

Happy praying!

Impossible Request Novena Continues

Six months down, three to go

Last March I mentioned that my husband and I were going to say the Novena for Impossible Requests this year.  It’s a nine-month novena, lasting from the Feast of the Annunciation to the Feast of the Nativity.

Today I realized that it is two-thirds done.

After six months, the novena has become such a standard in Bryan’s and my daily routine that I think we will feel strange after Christmas when we’re... READ MORE
