"Being Catholic means 'paying a price'"

“What we bring is not an onerous burden – we bring a liberation. And people may not know they do want this good news from Jesus but it really is what they’re looking for.”
That’s a quote from Archbishop Allen Vigneron of Detroit, interviewed during a recent visit to the Vatican. I’m proud that he’s local to here. He’s a great man, and it’s a great interview, full of truth.

Later in the week, I’ll be excited to share with you the continuing adventures I’ve been enjoying for the past few days. But today, I want to interrupt my travelogue to tell you about an interview I’m sharing this week with my good friend and Danielle’s (and my) radio producer extraordinaire, Matt Swaim. Matt is the author of the brand new book Prayer in the Digital Age.

That’s the advice given by Monsignor Steven Rohlfs, Rector of Mount St. Mary’s seminary, to his students during the last class before their ordination.
In a time when the Church is getting slammed by the media, this article in the Washington Post is a surprisingly positive interview... READ MORE

I was pretty excited earlier this week when Danielle was on Al Kresta’s show on Ave Maria Radio, because that’s my local Catholic radio station! Al Kresta records just a few miles from where we live.
If you didn’t get a chance to hear Danielle on Kresta’s show, you missed a treat. She was eloquent as always. The good news is, you can still catch the interview in Ave Maria Radio’s audio archives. ... READ MORE

So I sent my dad some questions, and asked him to take a few minutes and answer them briefly so that I could post the answers here.
Well, if you’ve been reading Faith & Family for a while, you may have noticed I tend to go on a bit. I come by it honestly! My dad sent me answers to my questions that could have served... READ MORE
An Interview With Margaret Sanger

Got a few minutes?
You simply must go watch young Mike Wallace conduct this 1957 interview with Margaret Sanger, foundress of Planned Parenthood.
It’s not just that it provides a personal glimpse into a woman pro-lifers probably think of as our nemesis.
It’s a window into a different world. Listen to their voices: there’s an entirely different diction. Watch the ads: another aesthetic entirely.... READ MORE

Aaron Wiederspahn is a man who follows through.
The 36-year-old writer and director of the independent film The Sensation of Sight has chosen a difficult road for his fledgling production company, either/or films: He wants to bring his characters — and thus the audience — to an inescapable confrontation with mystery, “the mystery of grace.”
“It’s like Jacob wrestling with God,”... READ MORE
