Do you do Christmas stockings at your house?
During my childhood we did. My mom filled them with the fun stuff for us - little toys when we were younger, hair bands and stationery when we were older - and since we didn’t get to open our big presents until after Christmas morning Mass, the stockings helped tide us over. We enjoyed them.

My whole life, except for a few months during babyhood, I have never had my own bedroom.
It’s true! I shared a room through my whole childhood, then I moved into dorms at college where I had roommates, then I got married. I’ve always had someone else’s breathing to listen to at night.

This past weekend, visiting my parents, Bryan and I planned to take advantage of their generosity and leave our kids with them while we went out to lunch.
It didn’t work out that way, because at the last minute Camilla said, “Can I come too?” We love that little curly-headed monkey, and we couldn’t say no. So we took her along on our date.

Moms in Choir

My little sister moved to town and promptly joined our parish’s choir. She’s already having a good time, and hearing her talk about it makes me wistful.
I was in choir in college, and loved it. We sang great, difficult music - Mozart, Palestrina - but in a low-stress environment with a wonderful lady as our director. It was incredibly fun and rewarding.
