Vatican Statement on Apostolic Visitation of the Legionaries of Christ

With a grateful heart for the honesty, thoroughness, faithfulness, courage, and pastoral care of Pope Benedict and the bishops who participated in the apostolic visitation of the Legionaries of Christ, I share these links to news and commentary from yesterday’s Vatican statement:

Vatican Radio: Vatican Statement on Apostolic Visitation of Legionaries of Christ

Catholic News Agency: Fr. Maciel guilty, ‘profound’ revision of Legion needed, report Apostolic Visitors

Catholic World News: Pope moves to take control of Legion of Christ

Fr. Owen Kearns Apologizes

At NCRegister.com, Fr. Owen Kearns, publisher of the National Catholic Register and Faith & Family, offers an apology for his past defense of Fr. Maciel.

Asking Your Prayers

a message from our publisher

I thought you might like to see the note our publisher, Fr. Owen Kearns, LC, posted at our sister site regarding Fr. Maciel.

Except of course for the part about the priesthood, he says what I’d like to say, and what I think any Regnum Christi member would.

Sad News

I noticed a question in a previous post regarding the sad news about the Legion of Christ’s founder.

I simply point you to the story at our sister site on the topic.

Update: You may be interested in this Zenit story, too: Legion regrets founder’s conduct.

Update: I’ve elected to close comments. As the only RC member of the five bloggers here, I hope you’ll understand I simply don’t have it in me to moderate such a discussion at this time.

Also, for those who don’t know, Faith & Family is published by Circle Media, which is the publishing arm of the Legion of Christ in the United States. And since someone asked, as the magazine is a business and only some employees are Regnum Christi members, we wouldn’t expect this news to affect the magazine or the blog in any way. (Except that a few of us could use a hug.)
