Enjoy your holiday today, everyone!
Here’s a post from a previous Memorial Day I’m partially reprising because the priest’s advice just sticks with me:

(I liked it so much I wrote it down.)
He asked the students to sit for a few moments before he gave... READ MORE

For Those Who Gave All
Posted by Danielle Bean in Faith on Monday, May 31, 2010
Whatever your family’s plans for this Memorial Day, please remember to pause and say a prayer for those brave men and women who have given their lives in defense of our nation.
In particular, let us pray for the over 5,400 service members who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.
Amen.

I wanted to share with you some advice a Navy chaplain serving at our parish once gave to kids at a school mass on the Friday before Memorial Day.
(I liked it so much I wrote it down.)
He asked the students to sit for a few moments before he gave the final blessing, and then told them:
I know you’re not sorry to have a day off on Monday, and I hope you enjoy the weekend, but I also hope you’ll remember... READ MORE

Whatever your family’s plans for this Memorial Day, please remember to pause and say a prayer for those brave men and women who have given their lives in defense of our nation.
In particular, let us pray for the almost 400 service members who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since last Memorial Day.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.
