New Missal Mania

How did it go at your parish?

After months of talking about it, preparing for it, and educating our families about it, we finally welcomed the Roman Missal Third Edition this past weekend at my local parish. My husband, whose involved in liturgical music at our parish, came home from morning mass with a report that all had gone well and that everyone seemed ready and well prepared.

When we returned for the evening mass at our... READ MORE

Living With Christ

another monthly missal option

Here’s an embarrassment of riches.

Literal embarrassment in my case, since in my post about daily missal use below, I should have highlighted Living With Christ, published by the same folks who bring you this very site.

Living with Christ is a monthly missalette published all around the world by Bayard, Inc, which also publishes Faith & Family magazine.

At this link you can watch an introductory video, download a sample, or sign up for morning prayer delivered daily to your mailbox.

I have to shamefacedly confess to our bosses I wasn’t aware until today we had a missalette in our stable of publications, but I’ll definitely be checking it out and hope you will too!

What a blessing it is to have so many options to help us live the Mass well—and how encouraging that there is an audience thirsty for such things.

I found... READ MORE

Missal Changes Explained for Middle Schoolers

We’ve been talking about the upcoming changes to the language we use at Mass and yesterday I recommended a new missal resource for young children. Now here’s a simple video with an easy way to explain some of the changes (and the reasons for them) to middle school aged children. And it’s not just for kids—I enjoyed it myself!

New Missal Resource for Catholic Kids

Have you read Daria’s article about the upcoming changes to the language we use in the Mass? If you read all the way to the end, you will see that we grown ups have many resources for learning more about these changes and preparing for them.

But how can we best prepare our children for changes in the Mass? A great book to use is The Mass Explained for Kids (scroll down), upcoming from Pauline Books.... READ MORE
