FOCA on CNN?

Let your voice be heard!

Jason Gennaro over at Catholic Dads has a good idea.

Tonight, John King will interview President-elect Obama live on the Situation Room on CNN.

“It would not be an overstatement to suggest that millions could be viewing,” writes Gennaro. “We need CNN to ask the critical abortion questions. We need Americans to hear that President-elect Obama intends to abolish abortion laws across America and use taxpayer dollars to kill children. Demand that CNN ask President-elect Obama about abortion and his plans! Send The Situation Room an e-mail and request they ask about FOCA and its implications.”

I think I will.

Krispy Kreme Clarifies

In response to my post yesterday about Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and “Freedom of Choice,” I received the following clarification from Brian Little, Krispy Kreme director of corporate communications.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts’ Inauguration Day promotion on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, is offering one, free doughnut of a customer’s choice at participating Krispy Kreme locations nationwide. No purchase is necessary. The promotion allows customers to commemorate Inauguration Day by selecting one free doughnut of any variety at local participating stores. On Election Day, November 4, 2008, Krispy Kreme ran a promotion that provided customers with one free star-shaped doughnut at stores nationwide.  The Inauguration Day promotion is not about any social or political issue.

A Krispy Kreme astonishingly poor and insensitive choice of words? Yes. A Krispy Kreme pro-abortion agenda? No.

Krispy Kreme Celebrates ‘Freedom of Choice’

an inauguration abomination

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts released the following statement yesterday:

“Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) is honoring American’s sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies—just another reminder of how... READ MORE

Express Yourself

The American Family Association is conducting a poll to determine how many Americans think President-elect Barack Obama should keep his promise to Planned Parenthood concerning the Freedom of Choice Act.

Feel free to share your opinion here.

Let Your Voice Be Heard

sign the Fight FOCA petition and commit to prayer

We’ve already talked quite a bit about the ramifications of the recent elections and pro-life losses at the polls.

If you are among the many pro-lifers left wondering “What do we do now?” I would suggest you re-read a couple of Rebecca’s pre-election posts on the subject of the “Freedom of Choice Act”:

What Exactly Will FOCA Do? and Changing Hearts and Minds

And then I would remind you of something President-Elect Obama has promised:

“The first thing I’d do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That’s the first thing I’d do.”

When we consider these things together, it seems our work is cut out for us. It won’t be long before Obama is ready to do his “first things” as President. Now is the time to make your voice heard. Here’s a start:

Add your name to the Fight FOCA petition online and commit to a Rosary novena for life.

These are small things, important things, life or death things. Let your voice be heard.

An Almost Perfect Moment

the glory and tragedy of this election
AP photo/ Carlos Barria/Reuters

I grew up in a black neighborhood in Southeast Washington, DC.

We were the only young white family for blocks in any direction. It was a middle class neighborhood and we all shared the same values, so there were never any difficulties to speak of.

But if you have never had the experience of being the only one day after day who looks like you on your bus or in your school or walking down your street... READ MORE

Our President

from Tom Hoopes

Tom Hoopes, executive editor of the National Catholic Register and editorial co-director of Faith & Family, offers words of hope and some important reminders at the National Catholic Register blog today.

On this historic and emotional day, I think his words are important enough to cross post here:

Whether the election turned out the way we wanted or not, one thing is clear: Barack Obama will be the... READ MORE
