Do optimists live longer?
According to some very preliminary research, it appears they might. This article has the details.
The team that did the study made it clear that this could be a correlative rather than a causal relationship: “Pessimistic people may be more prone to developing habits and problems that cut life short, such as smoking, obesity and hypertension.”

Recently I was shopping in a fabric store and left my purse sitting in the cart while I examined fabric fifteen feet away. It was within eyesight the whole time, but still, a woman warned me to be careful: she’d had hers stolen that way.

I am working in the kitchen when I hear 5-year-old Gabrielle’s voice coming from the next room.
She is drawing. And singing. Princess songs, of course.
“We are so happyyyyyyyyy .... We are so prettyyyyyyyyyyyy .... Togetherrrrrrrrrr, in a beautiful woooooooorld!”
