Staying Organized & Fighting the Winter Blues

Join us for this week's podcast!

Download Podcast

This week on the podcast (click here to listen or click on the player above), Rachel, Kate and I enjoy a discussion about staying organized (or trying to!).  Do you have lists, plans and schedules for housework, meals or even your prayer time?  How do you get things done, especially when you lack motivation?

This week’s Faith & Family Feature Product are the wonderful iPad/Kindle/Nook covers fashioned by Gail of Gaila Designs. ... READ MORE

Clean Streak

tales of the last trimester

Hallie was so sweet to call me a rock star for blogging through my first trimester, but I’m quite sure there were plenty of days when I didn’t get the job done! (Hallie, I hope you are now on the upswing! We are so excited for you!)

To be honest, I’m surprised to discover blogging is more of a challenge now, in these last months. Strangely, it’s for the opposite reason—there is just so much to do,... READ MORE

Get Paid to De-Clutter

Cash4Books.net makes it easy

I just finished recording a podcast with Rachel and Lisa (it will be posted here later this afternoon) where we talked a bit about de-cluttering. After we ended it, I thought ... Rats! I should have mentioned my favorite new website this fall:

Cash4Books.net

Clear your bookshelves of books you don’t need, enter their ISBN numbers at the site, and Cash 4 Books will tell you how much they’ll pay for them. Total it up, print a free pre-paid shipping label, and then just put your books in a box and mail them. Cash 4 Books will send you a check or make a deposit in your Paypal account in just a few weeks.

It’s that easy! Cleaner house, fatter wallet. What’s not to love?

Happy de-cluttering!

Label Makers

Learning to trust

Last week, the boys and I went out of town to take care of a farm for some friends. The couple went North to visit their daughter, who is a cloistered nun, and we had the opportunity to spend some time in the country caring for the chickens and rabbits, the duck, dog and cat.

Upon our return, we were greeted to the chaos of home repair and the last week before school starts, which leads me to today’s... READ MORE

Lovin’ My Library

New software helps me organize the chaos.

My favorite purchase at my recent trip to Macworld Expo was my acquisition of Delicious Library 2, a wonderful piece of software that’s helping me regain a bit of control over my incredibly chaotic Catholic library.

I’ve tried other systems before, but without great results.  The amazing thing about Delicious Library 2 is its partnership with my Macbook’s built in iSight webcam.  The camera scans... READ MORE

Label Maker Giveaway Update

And the winner is...

...No. 241, Andrea!

Congratulations to Andrea, whose comment was chosen randomly this morning by an integer generator (while I sat at the local bakery and sipped my tea).

Thanks to all who entered the contest. The good news is that this label maker isn’t too expensive, so put it on your Christmas wish list. Even better, run out and snag one today—you will be glad you did!

Happy Organizing!

Label Maker Giveaway

Get ready to organize!

A few weeks ago, the DYMO company sent me a new LetraTag label maker to review. Maybe that explains why my posts of late have been so brief—I’ve been busy purging and organizing and labeling everything in sight.

I have never owned a label maker, nothing this official and nice anyway, and what joy this little machine brings!

A few words about the label maker: it is sleek and easy to use. So easy,... READ MORE

Recycling ‘Stuff’

Give new life to old stuff around your home

Earlier this week, I spent three hours finding the floor in my seventeen year old’s room.  Things had gotten a little precarious in there during the past few months so I set aside an afternoon to help him get organized.

The end result was a very clean and organized closet, drawers that actually open and close now, and three big stacks of “stuff” in the hallway.

One stack was for trash, another was... READ MORE
