Campfire Cooking

Around here, fire is some seriously popular stuff.
It was such a rainy summer that we didn’t manage to have much campfire fun the past couple of months. With the arrival of cooler weather, though, we’re making up for lost time.
Fire! It’s pretty, it’s warm, it’s free, and you can cook stuff in it. Nothing beats gathering around a fire pit for an evening of marshmallow roasting and s’more making.

The other day, while I was making dinner, Raphael’s small face appeared at the window.
“Come and take a picture of me, Mama,” he said. “A picture with my pie.”
I can never turn down requests like these. I grabbed the camera and headed out to find him at work in his “kitchen.”

How Does your Garden Grow?

Thanks to Grandpa, we have strawberries. I say thanks to Grandpa, because if this particular project had been left up to me, I would just be getting around to opening up a gardening catalog right about now.
But Grandpa is good to me. He knows what a garden slacker I am, but is too polite to say so. Instead, he ordered the strawberries himself. He brought them over to our house along with the top soil... READ MORE
