Christmas Card Mania
Posted by Rachel Balducci in Family on Wednesday, November 30, 2011
This is my favorite Balducci Christmas card photo ever. It’s from a few years ago, and it perfectly encapsulates life in our home during that season.
In the years since, we’ve had some nice photos—along with one tremendous dud that involved me feeling desperate for a decent photo and using the one from the parish directory (complete with blue shag carpet across my lap as I held baby Henry).
The last... READ MORE

Sweet Scraps
Posted by Lisa Hendey in Just me on Friday, November 19, 2010
Today, I went to my post office box and was greeted by the most wonderful treasure: a real letter from my good friend Dee Fox (the “lovely” wife of Deacon Tom Fox of Catholic Vitamins). The envelope contained true treasures - this handmade card, lovingly pieced by Dee, a very nice note and a photo of the three of us taken recently during a happy visit. The card is truly a work of art, destined... READ MORE
Super Gramma!
Posted by Rachel Balducci in Family on Thursday, November 18, 2010
Here is an interesting series of photos from a young man who noticed his gramma was feeling blue.
A few years ago, French photographer Sacha Goldberger found his 91-year-old Hungarian grandmother Frederika feeling lonely and depressed. To cheer her up, he suggested that they shoot a series of outrageous photographs in unusual costumes, poses, and locations. Grandma reluctantly agreed, but once they... READ MORE

Fighting Digital Entropy

My hard drive almost died last month.
Once I found out the data was safe, I was actually relieved.
My laptop is sporting a brand-new (free! thanks, Apple) hard-drive now, and the old one is stored away, waiting for us to get the data off it at some future point. I’m planning to enlist the help of my geek-proficient brother when he’s home for the holidays.
In the meantime, I’m really enjoying my new... READ MORE
10 Tips for Profile Pics
Posted by AGroup in Homemaking on Friday, October 22, 2010
Hello ladies!
My friend, Jen, came into town last weekend for my sweet daughter’s baptism. Since she knew I needed to have a new profile picture taken, she was kind enough to bring her camera along with her and play photographer.
I was not too keen on having my photo taken at one month postpartum but since it had to be done I prepared myself for having to settle on a less-than-flattering shot. I was... READ MORE
Invasion of the Pillow People
Posted by Danielle Bean in Family on Friday, October 08, 2010
The other night, Dan and I were watching a movie in the living room while the kids played quietly in their rooms before bedtime.
At least that was what they were supposed to be doing.
What they were actually doing was creating “pillow people” and setting them up around the house in order to startle us.
It’s frightening how cooperative, stealthy, and quiet all of my children can be when properly motivated.... READ MORE
New Batch of Babies
Posted by Danielle Bean in Just me on Thursday, July 01, 2010
A new batch of “babies” arrived yesterday and I couldn’t be prouder.
Years ago, when we decided to get a flock of hens, I wondered if I was in love with the idea of chickens, but would be disappointed with the birds themselves.
But no. I really do love chickens.
Big fat hens are hilariously cute. Rowdy roosters are pretty to look at and predictably noisy (and dumb—Really, Rex? 3:00 am is time to start... READ MORE
