Long Life Love

This weekend I had the joy of being with both my mother and my paternal grandmother (as we call her, “Nana”) on Mother’s Day. I thought it was pretty neat that - with my children present - we had four generations in the room.
But imagine if we had two more than that!
From Charlottesville, Virginia, comes this sweet story: a photographer got the chance to capture six generations of women from a single... READ MORE

My husband and I will have our tenth wedding anniversary this year, and I feel like we’ve been married “forever” - but we’ve got nothing on this couple!
Eunice and Lloyd Ford were married April 9, 1929, a full EIGHTY-THREE years ago. Wow.
And as a bonus, here are eleven babies around the world. So cute!

Did you know that when Roe v. Wade was issued, it said that a woman has a right to an abortion only until the baby is viable outside the womb? The Supreme Court later rejected this, but I find that in discussions about abortion, few people are willing to defend the practice of aborting after the viability point.
But it’s interesting: the Roe v. Wade decision says that viability “is usually placed... READ MORE

I love hanging pictures. I love that feeling of pushing through the angst of putting a hole—a hole!—in my wall and then having something lovely and soothing and wonderful to look at. It can be scary, committing to hanging something. I went a lot of years not putting anything anywhere because, what if I didn’t like it? What if I messed up? What if I destroyed the entire house in my efforts to beautify?... READ MORE
'Tis the Season

Since it’s December, one of the things on my to-do list is Christmas cards. It’s a multi-part process: writing the accompanying letter, ordering the cards, making sure we have enough stamps, actually stuffing and addressing the pile that seems to grow as we work.
But for me, by far the most daunting part is obtaining the dreaded Christmas Card Picture.
I only have two children to photograph, so you’d... READ MORE

Since we found out the news about the twins two days ago, I’ve felt like the whole world is a little… surreal. I said to my husband on Monday night, “Maybe we will wake up in the morning and realize this twin thing was just a long weird dream.”
What happened instead was that I woke up at 2:30am and lay there wide awake thinking about how it’s crazy to imagine I can fit two babies in my womb at once.... READ MORE
10 Tips for Profile Pics

Hello ladies!
My friend, Jen, came into town last weekend for my sweet daughter’s baptism. Since she knew I needed to have a new profile picture taken, she was kind enough to bring her camera along with her and play photographer.
I was not too keen on having my photo taken at one month postpartum but since it had to be done I prepared myself for having to settle on a less-than-flattering shot. I was... READ MORE
Pretty… Boys?

A college friend of mine came from a family of six girls followed by two boys.
She told me a story of a time her father came home and his son tripped into the room to meet him. He’d been playing dress-up with his sisters, and he was decked out in a skirt, heels, and jewelry: the whole dress-up package.
Apparently this kind of dress-up was a common occurrence in their home (with six girls, of course... READ MORE

Did you see this great picture of the Holy Father sporting a baseball cap while taking a walk around his gardens?
I love that it matches his white cassock, and it’s so practical! I know I always like to wear sunglasses or a hat when I’m outdoors in the sun - it’s much easier on the eyes that way.
Here has a couple more photos of the Pope in his cap, if you want to see them.
Super-sized Last Supper
Posted by Rachel Balducci in Family on Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Researchers have been looking at pictures depicting the Last Supper and have found that over the years, Jesus and his disciples are getting bigger portions.
Using the size of the diners’ heads as a basis for comparison, the Wansinks used computers to compare the sizes of the plates in front of the apostles, the food servings on those plates and the bread on the table. Assuming that heads did not increase... READ MORE
