Do you force bulbs at Christmas?
I’m not certain when I acquired the habit, but it no longer seems like Christmas to me without the delicate mini-daffodils known as paperwhite narcissus.
They’re so easy and quick to grow and they have a lovely delicate scent as well.

Getting Our Hands Dirty

Juliette and I picked up some plants yesterday and now my hard-working 10-year-old is putting my abandoned poor, pathetic herb garden to good use.
She is putting some herbs in there, for sure. But this girl opts for “decorative” gardening a lot more than her mother ever did. Even back when I kept up this small spot, I used to keep it filled with stuff I could use to season focaccia bread.

Thanks to Grandpa, we have strawberries. I say thanks to Grandpa, because if this particular project had been left up to me, I would just be getting around to opening up a gardening catalog right about now.
