Voting Pro-Life

Even on the Local Level

Today I went to the grocery store to buy some comfort food for a rainy afternoon (Cheez-its and Reese’s pieces if anyone was wondering).

Happy with my purchase I walked out the door and was greeted by young professionals who asked if I was a resident of the town. When I said yes, I was introduced to the local politician who was running for Town Council.

Now let me first say that I am not into politics,... READ MORE

The Disturbing Truth

This video makes a powerful impact, particularly alongside the disturbing Margaret Sanger quote I saw it published with at Bad Catholic this past weekend.

New Shrine Memorializes Lost Babies

a prayerful spot for moms who have suffered loss

You guys!

My weekend visit to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy this weekend was amazing and exhausting and amazing and did I mention exhausting?

I brought along five of my kids, and the gang of us had a most memorable trip. I shared some photos on my Facebook page, but that album did not include any photos of the new (still under construction) Shrine of the Holy Innocents that is on site in Stockbridge,... READ MORE

Can You Help a Chinese Couple Have Their Baby?

a plea for pro-life support

I recently received an email that made me feel completely ignorant and helpless.

I have no information to offer this needy couple about organizations that might help Chinese women have their second babies. I am really hoping someone here might offer some insight or information. You can comment here or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and I’ll forward it to the party in question:... READ MORE

Rest in Peace Eunice Shriver

The world says goodbye to the Founder of Special Olympics

“You are the stars and the world is watching you.
By your presence, you send a message to every village, every city, every nation.
A message of hope, a message of victory.”

On Tuesday, August 11, surrounded by her family, Mrs. Eunice Shriver passed away at the age of 88.  Those who knew Mrs. Shriver best speak about her tremendous commitment to her Catholic faith and to public service.  She is remembered... READ MORE

Let the Healing Begin

A song for Saturday takes us on a quiet, redemptive retreat.

I’m very happy to share the following video by talented Catholic recording artist Elizabeth Schmeidler.  Elizabeth shares that this song, “Let the Healing Begin”, was written to raise awareness, healing and compassion for those who have been affected by abortion.  At the end of the video, she provides resource information for Rachel’s Vineyard, a wonderful organization that helps women heal following the trauma of abortion.  Please join me in praying for the dignity of life for ALL on this Saturday.

All Shapes and Sizes

Catholic families come in many different forms

I had to smile this week when I read Rachel’s lovely article entitled The Case for Large Families.  As the eldest of five children, I don’t need to be convinced by Rachel that a large family can be such a great cause for joy.  I count my two sisters and two brothers and their spouses as my very best friends and feel blessed that our family remains close at heart despite our lack of geographic proximity.... Red Envelope Brigade

just in time for Valentine's Day

This morning in my inbox was one of those mega-forwarded emails, the kind where you have to scroll way down to the bottom to get the gist of the letter. I sometimes ignore these emails, but something about this particular letter caught my eye—it promoted a simple yet profound act we can do to speak up for life.

I’ll include the letter below, but first I want to add that I did a little research to... READ MORE
