Rosary Issue?

April: This issue of Faith & Family is a Rosary theme issue. By mistake.

We didn’t intend for this to be a Rosary-themed issue. The way we planned it, we expected to highlight other themes:

Family Communication. “Yell No More” is Daria Sockey’s excellent article about communicating — quietly — with kids (page 26). “Unlocking Your Ears” is about listening to what your spouse is communicating to you... READ MORE

Tuning In

Catch Danielle on Kresta! Plus more Catholic radio

I was pretty excited earlier this week when Danielle was on Al Kresta’s show on Ave Maria Radio, because that’s my local Catholic radio station!  Al Kresta records just a few miles from where we live.

If you didn’t get a chance to hear Danielle on Kresta’s show, you missed a treat.  She was eloquent as always.  The good news is, you can still catch the interview in Ave Maria Radio’s audio archives. ... READ MORE

Earth Day

Do you celebrate?

Today is Earth Day 2009, the day that marks “the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.”

For a long time, I worried that such movements were beyond-tree-hugging liberalism at its finest. I love the Earth, of course, and I will admit that I get overly-emotional when I see forests being clear-cut for new development. But I never wanted to get so skewed in my efforts that... READ MORE

Balancing Resources

Money is not the only one that counts

Our discussion on my frugality post from last week has me thinking about resources.

It’s easy to talk about money because it’s concrete, but there are other resources that are just as important for completing the tasks of our daily lives, like time and energy.

Psalm 127 says,

In vain is your earlier rising, your going later to rest, you who toil for the bread you eat, when he pours gifts on his beloved... READ MORE

Headline News - Catholic Style

New resources help you watch, read, and listen to the latest happenings from a Catholic perspective

Some days, we moms have the best of intentions of keeping up with national and world news headlines.  But it’s not unusual for LIFE to happen, and for days to pass by without a glimpse at a newspaper or television.

When we do have time to take in the news, we may find ourselves frustrated by media bias or questioning how the news impacts upon us as Catholics.

Well, the great news I have for you today... READ MORE

Teen Faith Resource Guide

Help teens discover their faith -- and, perhaps, a vocation.

With our eldest child on the verge of his teen years, I’ve often wondered what materials are out there to help guide my children through this volatile time in their lives. I was pleasantly surprised to find a vast variety of resources available to help teens retain and grow in their Catholic faith — and maybe even discern a vocation to the priesthood or religious life.

Apologetics

Beginning Catholic... READ MORE
