Reads For The Road

Did I mention I love road trips? Can you tell we’ve just returned from one?

Another reason I love them is books on tape. I enjoy being read to as much as my children do, and it’s nice sometimes to listen and delight together—and without the limitation of having to stop when my throat gets tired.

The quality of narration can vary widely, however. Voices can be soporific or irritating to the point of... READ MORE

I'm Thinking of a Word…

a fun road trip game

I love road trips!

It’s uninterrupted family time.

You actually see the country.

You have wonderful conversations.

And, for the Teti family, there is “I’m Thinking of a Word.”

This is a game, which, so far as I know, was invented by... READ MORE

Great Grands

I’m posting this from Montgomery, Alabama, where I’ve been visiting my maternal grandmother.

We are specifically traveling from WI to FL and back via a different route. ... READ MORE

Are We There YET?

A Real-Life Guide to Real Family Road Trips

A friend of mine recently confided in me that she felt completely overwhelmed by the thought of an upcoming family vacation with her small children.

It would be a beach vacation, she told me, and she predicted that her days would consist of packing up the little ones, trekking them to the beach, and counting heads while they were there. All day, every day, she would fight sunburn, bug bites, trips... READ MORE
