This week on the podcast (click here to listen or click on the player above), Lynn, Hallie and I talk about “keeping up” in this Autumn season when life seems to be so crazy busy! From scaling back household routines to cutting back on kids activities, we’re looking at ways to economize our time so that we can enjoy more precious moments with our families. Getting You All to Themselves

One-on-one time with kids?

This past weekend, visiting my parents, Bryan and I planned to take advantage of their generosity and leave our kids with them while we went out to lunch.

It didn’t work out that way, because at the last minute Camilla said, “Can I come too?” We love that little curly-headed monkey, and we couldn’t say no. So we took her along on our date.

When we got to the restaurant and were going through the usual... READ MORE

Finding the Perfect Prayer Time

When do you find time for quiet prayer?

For years, I’ve been an early morning prayer person.  I love to rise before my family stirs and have the house to myself.  For so many years, when the boys were younger, it felt like the only time I had to myself, which also meant it seemed to be the only time devoted to prayers that were longer than those “God, HELP!” types of prayers I utter throughout the day.

Date Night

Late for Mass?

No you won’t be! Because Faith & Family Live! remembered to remind you: Daylight Savings Time begins tonight.

Set your clocks ahead one hour at 2:00 am on Sunday March 8.

Or just do it before you go to bed tonight. I won’t tell.

Easing into Reality

Getting back onto a regular schedule - painful or pleasant?

Having returned home from our “last hurrah” camping trip, I confronted the disquieting fact that for one of my kids school starts in six days.  I’m not one of those moms who parties on the first day of school at the thought of freedom and a return to scheduled life.  Rather, I’m the mom who sits in the parking lot crying and missing my kids until I arrive early to pick them up and whisk them back...
