Would You Wear These Shoes?

time out for a frivolous question!

Is it just me or are more and more shoes designed to make women look like Clydesdales?

Tell me the truth from the fashion perspective (ignore price, comfort, practicality).

Are these attractive?

Foot Loose

A new approach to exercise

I came across an article today touting the benefits of exercising barefoot and all the ways this approach can help your body.

By exercising barefoot, you can actually promote your sense of balance, improve muscle alignment, reduce orthopedic pains, and lessen the chance of injury.

The article also discusses the advantages of trying the five-fingered shoes that are all the rage. Have you seen this funky footwear?... READ MORE

The Cute Shoes Win

In May a (young, old or in-between) woman’s thoughts turn to —Sandals!

We need at least 3 pair: the sturdy, everyday equivalent of a jogging shoe; medium heels for any time we want to look good but will be on our feet for an extended period; and high heels for Sunday Mass, dinner dates, and weddings. Thanks to last year’s end of season sales, I already had everything I needed. But ...

While out last... READ MORE

Comfort and Style for Tender Tootsies

High heels to live in ... and die for!

If you’re anything like me, you occasionally enjoy slipping your feet into pair of pretty high-heels. But if you’re anything like Calah (and most gals, I suspect) rare is the high-heel wearing experience that doesn’t leave your feet screaming for mercy!

Never fear, fine ladies. I am the master of finding comfortable heels. I present to you my short list of shoe companies that have a reputation for... READ MORE

Mad for Plaid

From pants to pumps, I'm smitten!

What do you think of plaid? Is it a fashion do or don’t?

I happen to love plaid (especially in the cooler months), but I always wonder if those of you who went to Catholic school (or are married to lumberjacks) have had about all the plaid you can take. That’s okay—I can respect that—but for the rest of you, I thought I’d share some of my favorite plaid fashion finds:

How cute is this plaid dress from Target?... READ MORE

Perfect Shoes

What are yours?

In a perfect world, I would own a pair of the shoes pictured here. In a perfect world, I would be able to walk in said shoes without looking like my knees were fused. I love these shoes; I suspect they wouldn’t love me back.

But red shoes—that’s where it’s at! I own a pair of red Dansko clogs—Mary Janes even!—and once the weather cools I will wear those shoes everyday until Spring. For me, they are... READ MORE

Must We Bare Our Soles?

Says You: are people allowed to wear shoes in your house?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/30582560@N08/3766003631/

Do people wear shoes in your house?

In many countries it’s unheard of to wear shoes in the house.

Hygiene-wise it makes perfect sense—do you know where those shoes have been?

Nevertheless, compulsory shoe removal strikes against my sensibilities.

  • I didn’t grow up that way.
  • I lived for awhile with a Venezuelan roommate who had a cultural horror of bare feet. One just didn’t take one’s shoes off... READ MORE

My View

which explains a lot

I thought I would share this picture with you. This is what 34 weeks looks like, when you’re trying to get on shoes and socks and head out at the end of the day. I got about half-way through before I just couldn’t breathe anymore and had to stand up.

When I looked down at my feet, after I “put on my socks” I laughed until I cried. This is how we roll, for the time being.

Happy Monday to you too!
