What's On your Head This Derby Weekend?

Hello ladies!

The Kentucky Derby is here! Will any of you lovely Kentucky girls be attending (or otherwise celebrating) this weekend? I must admit, being a Southern transplant, I don’t know much about the Derby. The first thing that always comes to mind when I hear it mentioned is ... well, Mint Juleps! Now that’s a tradition I can get behind! wink

The second thing that comes to mind is hats! Big, beautiful... READ MORE

Outward Signs

showing our true identity

I took a deep breath before walking into the grocery store this afternoon. I pinched my cheeks and smoothed my hair and stole one more glance at myself in glass doors to verify that yes, I still had an enormous black smudge on my forehead.

Of course it wasn’t a smudge at all, but a cross—an outward sign of the start of Lent, of my need for God and my desire for change. I know this, but I wondered... READ MORE

Calling Grace Kelly

Who is your style icon?

More than once I’ve been asked if I have any tips for making shopping for clothes easier. Yesterday it dawned on me that there is one very helpful thing I do that saves me time, energy and money:

I have a style icon. Her name is Grace Kelly and I absolutely adore her look.

Why is having a style icon helpful? Ultimately, it helps me stay focused. When I go shopping, I always have Grace Kelly in mind.... READ MORE

Comfort and Style for Tender Tootsies

High heels to live in ... and die for!

If you’re anything like me, you occasionally enjoy slipping your feet into pair of pretty high-heels. But if you’re anything like Calah (and most gals, I suspect) rare is the high-heel wearing experience that doesn’t leave your feet screaming for mercy!

Never fear, fine ladies. I am the master of finding comfortable heels. I present to you my short list of shoe companies that have a reputation for... READ MORE

New Marketplace for Fashion

Sense of Fashion has caught my eye!

Are any of you familiar with Sense of Fashion? I just discovered it myself. It’s like Etsy—a marketplace website—but solely for fashion! They feature items from all over the world, including apparel, shoes, jewelry, and (my personal favorite) vintage goods. Here is an excerpt from their About Us page:

Getting Things Done

Finding my groove

Someone recently wrote to me asking how I run my week, if I have a set schedule and if so, what does that look like?

At first, I was inclined to say I didn’t have a set schedule (I don’t have “laundry day” and “cleaning day” for instance) but the more I thought about it I realized I do have one of those. For me, however, it’s just a little more to-the-day instead of to-the-week.

I do laundry every... READ MORE
