The other night a bunch of us went out to the local Irish pub for some company, fun, and beer of course. The beer was flowing as were the good conversations. At the end of my second beer the conversation shifted to all things religion. I don’t know about you, but it seems the forbidden topics become the topics of choice after a few beers.

Mapping Out Sin

What’s your hometown’s sin of choice?
A team from Kansas State has mapped out our nation’s hot spots for the 7 deadly sins by plotting per-capita statistics of things like violent crime, STDs, and numbers of fast food restaurants.
Some might question the “science” of these findings, but the maps sure are an interesting way of looking at our country’s regions.
I especially like the fact that the map for pride is an aggregate of the other six maps “because pride is the root of all sin.”

Tuesday Fr. Michael Orsi showed us that loose internet lips can lead us into serious sin through calumny, detraction, rash judgment and willing cooperation with those sins.
I loved that article, but today I want to look at internet discussion from an another angle. Does charity mean we can’t ever discuss anything controversial for fear of hurting someone’s feelings?
