Spring Fever
Posted by Robyn Lee in Just me on Friday, June 03, 2011
I love Spring. Not the Winter thaw muddy mess, but the late May early June loveliness. For me, this is the perfect time.
I love eating dinner outside. I can smell the neighbors grilling burgers, which makes me turn on my grill because ... what a good idea!
I love that it is light out in the early morning and I love that it is light out until 9 p.m.
I love getting outdoors! Springtime is when we... READ MORE
3 Ways To Survive Baseball Season
Posted by Danielle Bean in Homemaking on Monday, May 16, 2011
I’ve been getting some baseball email from newbie baseball moms. They go something like this:
“Are these people serious???”
and
“How am I supposed to get anything done with this crazy schedule???”
and
“This is INSANE!!!!”
To which I reply: “Yes, they are serious” and “No, you will not get anything done and you just need to make your peace with that” and “Yes, it is insane, but it can be a little bit... READ MORE

This week on the Faith & Family Live Cast (click here to listen or click on the player above), Rachel, Rebecca and I reflect back on my recent post about beautiful church buildings. We each share about the types of church buildings that inspire us in our worship and prayer, relating a few of our personal favorites. What types of churches draw you closer to God? Is physical environment and beauty and... READ MORE

It’s spring!
Well, kind of. Here in our part of Michigan, we have highs in the 30s for the next week, and can expect at least one or two more snowfalls before the warmer season begins in earnest. Today I let the kids go outside to play and they wore heavy jackets, hats, and mittens.
But the winter’s snow accumulation has thawed. Tree branches sport tiny buds. The ground is getting softer, and with... READ MORE
Lemon Chicken Pasta Tastes Like Spring
Posted by Danielle Bean in Food on Wednesday, March 16, 2011
So I follow the rockin’ Joia Farmer on Twitter.
A couple of days ago she shared a tweet about celebrating springtime with lemon chicken pasta for dinner and I asked her for the recipe. When she shared the link where she found it, it looked so simple and good I was inspired to try it.
It was simple! It was good! About 3/4 of the family gave it rave reviews while the other 1/4 pronounced it acceptable.... READ MORE
Don't Spring Away
Posted by Arwen Mosher in Just me on Tuesday, May 11, 2010
Today my sister and her kids came to our house to play. We stayed indoors because it was in the 40s and rainy. The forecast for the rest of the week doesn’t look much better, with highs barely in the 60s by Friday.
Normally it’s nearly summer-like weather by mid-May, but the past few weeks have been unseasonably chilly. My sister remarked that it’s a shame that it’s not getting warm more quickly. ... READ MORE
Peeps of Spring
Posted by Danielle Bean in Just me on Tuesday, April 06, 2010
The frogs are back. It must be spring. They hop and splash all day, skillfully avoiding the smallest kids’ eager hands.
And they peep all night. I mean really peep. No, seriously. Country life is not always a quiet life. Sometimes it’s downright deafening. Have a listen:

Back when I had more free time, I loved reading archived columns by Miss Manners online. Much of my own behavior is not “painfully correct” but I enjoyed the etiquette maven’s quick wit and I learned a lot, too.
My favorite pieces of manners trivia are the ones that make me go, “Who knew?” because they’re archaic or contrary to our instincts about what the rules *should* be.
For example, do you know... READ MORE
Spring's Not-So-Fun Side
Posted by Arwen Mosher in Just me on Tuesday, March 09, 2010
It’s unseasonably warm for Michigan right now, with highs in the 50s all week.
How fondly I remember the springs of my past, when I could enjoy the suddenly warm temperatures, the melted snow trickling along the gutters, the trilling of birds newly-arrived from the south. Early spring, with all its promise, was one of my favorite times of year.
I’ve even managed to enjoy it through the past few years,... READ MORE
