A Saint to Emulate

Celebrating the feast of my patron

Today is the feast of St. Isaac Jogues and his companions. He’s the patron saint I chose when I got confirmed, so it’s a special day for me.

When I was a child we had a number of books about saints written for children and published by Ignatius Press. My favorite was one entitled St. Isaac and the Indians, all about the life of the early Jesuit missionary to the Americas.

Remembering a literary giant

Today marks the birth of one of my favorite writers, Mary Flannery O’Connor. She was born March 25, 1925.

Flannery lived and worked just a few hours up the road from me, over yonder in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was a devout Catholic, unabashedly Southern, female writer—which pretty much makes her A-No. 1 in my book. I have always told my husband that if we ever have a daughter, Flannery will find... New site wants YOU to share your First Communion stories

First Communion Stories is a new site, sponsored by Aquinas and More Catholic Goods, where they are hoping to collect Catholics’ real-life First Communion stories and memories.

“We hope you enjoy reminiscing with others about their First Communion memories. This site was created so that Catholics could share fond memories and pictures of their First Communions with each other.”

Sounds like a lovely, positive approach to sharing and spreading the faith. Head on over to read ... and share!
