Don't Text and Drive

How can we protect our kids from this deadly combination?

I was interested to read about Utah getting tough with texting drivers in a recent NY Times article.

While some states only have a fine for causing a deadly or injurious accident by texting at the wheel, in Utah texting drivers can face up to 15 years in prison.

While I am a fan of modern means of communication in general, as a mom of teens, the very idea of texting while driving really frightens... READ MORE

There's an App for That

The iPhone ... Catholic style

Many thanks to Paul Camarata, the genius behind The SaintCast, for this Catholic version of the popular Apple commercial:

Please help me with the redesign of my parish website!

One of the handfuls of part time jobs I’m lucky enough to enjoy is my role as Parish Webmaster for my faith community.  I work from home - frequently in my pajamas (please don’t tell my pastor!) - keeping our parish community connected and informed.

Every summer, I have a list of personal projects that I try to accomplish.  These are tasks that require more long-term focus than I typically can commit... READ MORE

I also prayed for my brother, who qualifies as not-yet-a-vet, because he is currently serving in the Coast Guard.  We’re very proud of him, and glad that he enjoys his work as an electronic technician. ... READ MORE

What’s Up with Webkinz?

What do you think about this trend in tech toys?

Today, as you’re reading this, I’m delivering a talk entitled “Raising Faith Filled Kids in Today’s Technological Climate” at my local diocesan Religious Education Congress.

As part of my research for this presentation, which focuses largely on children’s usage of the internet and new media, I purchased our family’s first Webkinz.  My boys are old enough that the whole craze surrounding these perky... READ MORE
