Overcoming Emotional Jet Lag

Today, I’m sending out a huge thanks to the world’s best editor, Mrs. Danielle Bean, for her patience with my inability to post last week as scheduled while I was tromping around Israel. Despite my plans, technology and time conspired against me and I wasn’t able to share as much of the trip “live” as I had hoped. For those who want to know more about my adventures, I will be posting an ongoing series of recap articles over at CatholicMom.com.... READ MORE
On Becoming a Pilgrim

Hi friends, just a few quick words from the Holy Land where I am having the time of my life. Our internet connection here in Jerusalem is sketchy at best—to use my iPad I must do some gymnastics that are inconvenient at best… so I will keep this short and share the bulk of my stories over the next few weeks when I return home to the land of abundant and free wifi.
Although I have been able share so... READ MORE
Off to Israel
Posted by Lisa Hendey in Just me on Monday, January 23, 2012
On Wednesday of this week, I’ll be able to cross a lifelong dream off of my “some day” list as I depart on a nine-day trip to Israel. I’ll be in the company of nine other Catholic writers as part of a trip arranged by the Catholic Press Association in conjunction with the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.
Our nine-day adventure will take us to many of the highlights of Israel—mentally, as I write this... READ MORE
There and Back Again

Have you ever noticed that the leg home from a trip always seems quicker? That’s been my experience. My husband and I were just discussing this on our way home from our recent epic cross-country vacation that involved planes, vans and a 3 a.m. arrival back home.
Coming home just didn’t seem to drag on like getting out there did. I wonder if part of it really is the anticipation of the good things... READ MORE
Family Camp

Over at CatholicMom.com, I recently shared a wonderful article from a mom who told us all about her family’s recent experience at Catholic Familyland’s Holy Family Fest. While my family has never been lucky enough to attend this weeklong camp in Ohio, we did enjoy several years of going to Family Camp with our Catholic Cub Scout group.
I’ll admit to you that my guys are not big campers. I grew up... READ MORE
My First Homeschool Conference
Posted by Lisa Hendey in Family on Tuesday, June 14, 2011
I’m so excited that this weekend, I will have the opportunity to attend and speak at my very first homeschooling conference. Although I’ve spoken in countless venues around the country in the past few years, the Kansas City Conference for Catholic Homeschoolers will be my very first opportunity to attend a conference specifically geared to homeschooling families.
The agenda for the conference looks... READ MORE
Giving Thanks for Blessed John Paul II

Continuing on with sharing a few of the events of my journey to Rome with you, I next want to unfold for you the story of my attendance at Monday’s Mass of Thanksgiving for the newly beatified Blessed John Paul II.
My day started off like a dream, when my good friend and fellow Catholic blogger Brandon Vogt shared the ticket he wouldn’t be using for the Mass due to his alternative plans. Before I... READ MORE

OK friends, Rebecca shared the good news recently that I will be headed to the Vatican this weekend. This trip was a very big surprise and has been planned quite quickly with the help of many good friends. I am so excited that I will be able to share it with all of you via blog posts coming during the time I am in Italy.
But first, I have to get there. The trip is going to involve planes, trains and... READ MORE
Fancy Churches?

Last week, while in Washington DC, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend a few hours praying at and visiting the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. While touring, I took nearly one hundred photos, wanting to recapture a few precious memories of the grandeur and sanctity of the many worship spaces inside the Shrine.
When I returned to my hotel, I promptly uploaded many... READ MORE
Fabulous Franciscan
Posted by Lisa Hendey in Just me on Tuesday, April 05, 2011
Well, I’ve begun to get over my sadness at not being with all of my favorite moms at this past Saturday’s big event. Part of what helped to ease the sting was the wonderful time I had at the Franciscan University Media and Faith Conference in Steubenville. Together with Jeff Young (aka the Catholic Foodie) and our host Fr. Seraphim Beshoner, I spent the weekend interacting with Communications Arts... READ MORE
