Praying for Veterans

Share your names and join in

I highly recommend reading the essay that Rebecca linked to in honor of Veterans’ Day. I found it inspiring and thought-provoking.

In the meantime, in honor of this day, I thought it would be nice to publicly acknowledge the veterans in our lives, both living and dead. What better way to honor veterans than by praying for them?

In the comments section of this post, please list any loved ones who’ve served in the armed forces. If you have loved ones in active duty, feel free to share their names as well. It’ll be our special Faith & Family Veterans’ Day Prayer List.

I’ll begin with my own list in the comments.

Thanks For Your Service

Here’s a reprise of a nice essay for the occasion of Veteran’s Day: What a Veteran Knows.

With thanks to all who served or are serving, and prayers for families with active duty members away from home.

May God bless you, and may you never feel your sacrifices are unnoticed or unappreciated!

Every Day Is A Bonus

"Honor flight" honors our veterans

Here’s a sweet video apt for the observance of Veteran’s Day today.

It’s about “Honor Flight,” a program which flies elderly or terminally ill veterans to see the war memorials in Washington, DC.

Thanks to all you who have served and are serving! We prayed for you today.

Veteran’s Day Video

prayers for our soldiers and their families

Here’s a song (Letters from War by Mark Schultz, read the lyrics here) and slide show in honor of Veteran’s Day today. Lisa’s post below offers some great recommendations for observing this day. Let us not forget to honor and pray for our soldiers and their families who have made and who continue to make unthinkable sacrifices for the good of us all.

Remembering our Vets

A prayer on Veteran's Day

Today, we recall the tremendous service and sacrifice of so many men and women who have courageously and valiantly served in the United States military.

More than just a day off of school or work, today should be a day of prayer, commemoration and thankfulness.  As families, this is the perfect day to commemorate our vets in a special way.  A few ideas for you and your family might include:
