Twin Giggles

Enjoy!

Would a video of a baby laughing brighten your day? Would it be even better if it were two babies?

I’ve been loving how easy it is to make my twins crack up these days, and yesterday it occurred to me: other people might enjoy this view! Ambrose is on the left in brown, Linus on the right in white. Ignore the dorky noises their mama is making; I’ll do pretty much anything to get a laugh out of my little ones.

Beyond Words with Mark Hart

A great new resource for your family!

I’ll admit to being a major fan of Mark Hart (the “Bible Geek”), Executive Vice President of Life Teen and author of several amazing books. Mark is deeply spiritual, but also a phenomenal communicator and a very funny guy. While I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, we’ve spoken on the phone a few times and share a love for a certain college football team.

So I was psyched to discover... READ MORE

A Book Is Born

Watch my new book come off the press!

I just had to share my excitement at seeing the following video, posted by my friends at Ave Maria Press, home of my new book A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms. This video was shot by my publisher and friend Tom Grady, who knows how excited I am by the physical process of books! You can see the book running through the machines and heading into boxes to be shipped in a few weeks. To order your copy now, visit Amazon or Aquinas & More—your support is greatly appreciated!

Mom My Ride

Is this your car?

This video has been floating around for a little while, but it’s so perennially true that I just had to share it with you. Please pardon the “product placement” at the beginning and have fun with the theme of the video… how “mommed out” our cars can be! A few questions for you - does your car scream “mom”? Could you feed a family of four with the old fries stuck under your minivan seats? Or have you “graduated” from the SUV to a more economical model? Enjoy!

What do you see?

Is this a Marian Apparition, or a hoax?

Over at his blog yesterday, the wonderful Patrick Madrid posted the following video and invited his readers to ponder what they see in it. I have to say that even before I watched the video, I assumed it was a hoax. For some sad reason, I am very hesitant when it comes to these types of things—but I also wonder if I would have felt the same had I been present at Lourdes, at Knock or at Fatima. How about you—do you find these potential apparitions believable, or like me are you predisposed to disbelieve?

How Great Thou Art!

A special song for Saturday!

I didn’t catch this when it originally aired, so I was so happy when one of my online friends shared the video of Carrie Underwood with Vince Gill performing one of my favorite devotionals. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Soul Surfer

See it!

About a month ago, I had the privilege of seeing a “sneak peek” preview of the new movie Soul Surfer. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed this dramatic replaying of the inspirational story of surfer Bethany Hamilton. The film’s primary stars, AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt did a fantastic job of bringing Bethany’s story to life.

For a complete rundown on how this film earns... READ MORE

Radiance

A song for Saturday...

In honor of all of our moms out there—those gathering today and those who are home caring for families—here’s a song for you today from my all time favorite Catholic Mom musician, the amazing Sarah Bauer. This song from Maddalena’s mommy never ceases to make me smile - we are each called to shine in our own ways. Through the work you do in and around your home every day, you are an instrument of God’s love for your family. Take a moment to enjoy this song, to pray for all of the Moms gathering today in Stoneham and for those there in spirit as well.

Precious Memories

A song for Saturday

On Wednesday, at my grandfather’s wake, time stood still when my grandpa’s long-time mail carrier entered the room where his body rested, paid her respects, and quietly asked to sing a song for the family. Of course, we were overjoyed and grandpa’s children linked arms and stood near the foot of the bed, listening to this lovely lady in a postal service skirt and top, singing “Precious Memories” a cappella in old-timey fashion. I’d never heard this song before, but was so happy to find several wonderful versions of it on YouTube. Here’s Dolly’s - enjoy!

Chant to Inspire

A song for Saturday

A few years ago, my parents and I had the opportunity to visit Ave Maria Grotto in Cullman, Alabama.  It was such a moving experience that I created a video which is now featured on the Grotto’s website.  While in Cullman, we enjoyed mass at St. Bernard Abbey and were treated to chant by the Monks of the Abbey.  Today, while searching YouTube, I came across this video which features chant by the Monks of St. Bernard.  Their music is the perfect thing to savor during Lent.  Once you’ve enjoyed this, please take some time to visit their website, which includes a virtual chapel, their fantastic candle shop, and more information about the Benedictine monks who live and pray together at the Abbey.
